Our neighborhood
La Querencia Cohousing is located on Alluvial Avenue in northeast Fresno, CA. The neighborhood is convenient and established, with Mountain View Elementary School nearby, parks and a bike trail within walking distance, and everyday shopping and dining just a few minutes away.
The area is known for its well-kept neighborhoods, strong schools, and a generally safe, family-friendly environment.
Fresno State and Clovis Community College are both under a 10-minute drive, along with nearby medical offices. Most places in Fresno—including Fresno Yosemite International Airport—are within about 15 minutes.
Outdoor recreation is close by, with the Sierra Nevada foothills and state parks about 20 minutes away. The San Joaquin River Parkway—including Woodward Park—is about 15 minutes away and offers trails and other recreational activities. Higher elevations of the Sierra Nevada are farther out but within day-trip reach, with skiing at China Peak Mountain Resort roughly 90 minutes from the community.
The Central Coast is about 2.5 hours by car. Destinations like Yosemite National Park and Sequoia National Park are about 2 hours away, while the San Francisco Bay Area is roughly 3 hours and Los Angeles about 4 hours by car.
Fresno is a large, diverse city with a range of cultural and educational offerings. These include local theater, live music, community events, and institutions like the Fresno Philharmonic. California State University, Fresno hosts lectures, performances, and summer arts programs.
Local food is easy to find, with farmers markets and CSA programs available throughout the year. Within the community, residents grow fruits and vegetables in a shared garden, including summer crops and winter greens like lettuce, kale, and spinach.
Daily life is relatively simple. Traffic is manageable, and most errands and destinations are a short drive away.
